It was beyond any words I have to see our sweet Mila again. She definitely recognized me and got great big eyes when she saw me. It almost looked like she was thinking "I can't believe you came back." She did NOT take her eyes off of me for much of the visit. It was the sweetest thing ever!!!! I just snuggled her and told her that tonight is her last night in that orphanage and from this point forward she would never spend another night alone! Then I told her to get ready because we're bustin' out of that place TOMORROW!!!! To say I can't wait doesn't even begin to describe it.
She smiled more tonight than I've ever seen her smile before!
Uncle Mike holding Mila. Aunt Carol you must be so jealous ;)
Our prayers are being heard. Mila seems to be doing so much better. She stayed awake the entire visit (something she had yet to do on our first trip here), she didn't feel warm at all, she was very alert, and seemed more comfortable. I'm hoping that maybe she was just really not feeling well and sick during our first couple weeks with her. She seems bigger to me, it seems impossible. I swear she has more hair! It's just crazy!
Although I am so thrilled that tomorrow is gotcha day, I can't help but be saddened by what we are leaving behind. There are so many faces, so many little souls who need a mama and papa. There is one little girl in particular that has stole not only my heart, but Shawn's heart and Mike's heart as well. She is known as "peek-a-boo girl" because she loves playing peek-a-boo with us. Please pray for her. I don't know her circumstances but I know she longs for a mama and papa of her very own.
Thank you for the continued prayers. They are being heard!!! Praying this trip continues to bring miracles for Mila!
Praise God for such a soon Gochya Day. Congrats, mommy! She's looks so healthy!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness look at her.
ReplyDeleteBustin her out tomorrow, yeah! So looking forward to that I know you are.

So happy for you! I was just thinking about her wisps of hair, I love it!
ReplyDeleteMy own heart just about leapt out of my chest when I saw a new update!!! And, YES! Mila looks bigger and she looks like she has more hair!! I am ecstatic that she remembered her Mommy and even more ecstatic that she seems to be feeling better! Praise God!!! Oh how I pray that Precious "Peek-a-boo" will soon have a forever family and praying that God will protect your own broken heart, Sarah, as you leave that place behind. Your story WILL bring glory to the one who promises to come to the orphans as people's minds (and pocketbooks) are opened to their plight. Thank you for continuing to share your journey!!! One more night Jelly Bean!!!!

ReplyDeleteI have been waiting for this post. This entire journey must be so hard. I'm sure you have felt torn, missing Zoya while in Europe and missing Mila while at home. It will be a beautiful day when the two pieces of your heart can be together!! So soon :)
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog for awhile and just wanted to let you know that little Mila is seriously one of the cutest sweetest little girls I have ever seen! I love how she looks at you and the camera, what a personality! I can't wait to see the progress she makes when she gets home because she has already made so much! I feel sad though when I see how she holds herself because I know that is the result of very few (if any) cuddles. I will continue to pray for her health and a safe journey home and a smooth adjustment for your family. I just wanted you to know that even wasy over here in Arizona, your little "jelly bean" has touched hearts! God bless you!

Such wonderful news to read - I cannot believe how quickly you will accomplish this second trip if all goes as you hope it will. Prayers for your little one's health and your safety.

ReplyDeleteThe hair on top of her head looks longer and her entire body looks longer. I can't believe tomorrow is the day. Its a Girl... It's Mila :) Congrats
ReplyDeleteWow! She looks so much healthier than before. Just beautiful. I am a doctor, and honestly worried about your trip home with Mila from a medical perspective. I feel so much better just seeing how much healthier she looks in these pictures!!! Congrats to you all.
ReplyDeleteShe looks WAY bigger and does have more hair I think! Praying for her and her medical exam. I bet Zoya is most excited.

ReplyDeleteIn that first (top) picture, it looks like she is thinking "Ok, Mom, we've got this. Let's go." She does look better this time. Her color looks great in comparison to last time. Praying for a safe and quick return trip home. Praying for medicals, etc. to go well. Praying for all aspects of your trip!!! God Bless you!
ReplyDeleteI stated those same two comments before I read yours. She does look longer and her hair is fuller as well. Praying you all safely home!

ReplyDeleteThere's that sweet little kewpie doll!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI have missed seeing her sweet little face.
I am so glad to hear she was doing so well, praise be to God! Of course she was happy to see her Mama! What little girl wouldn't be?!
It does look to me like her weird airplane pose from your very first visits is sorta making a comeback. Hopefully tomorrow when you get to hold her ALL DAY LONG it will relax away again! I can't wait to see the big update that you have sprung that little jelly bean! I wonder if leaving the orphanage will be her first trip outside? I remember you saying how wide eyed she was at the window. What an awesome day of firsts it will be for your littlest girlie.
GO SARAH GO!!! You can see the finish line ahead...she will be home before you know it!!! xoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful little girl! so glad to hear she is feeling better. It is amazing what Love can do. So excited that soon she will be home with her Mommy & Daddy and Big Sister Zoya Forever. God is watching over all of you. Prayers for a safe trip.
ReplyDeleteTick tock! What time is it there? Come on gotcha day!
ReplyDelete...And now it's November 16, a day to be long celebrated! I hope things are continuing to go well, and am so glad to see your Nov. 15 updates - can't wait for the latest installment, starring beautiful Miss Mila!

Can you post how about the peek-a-boo girl would be available for adoption.
ReplyDeleteDear Sarah ~ I want to tell you before Mila gets a chance! :D
ReplyDeleteI "borrowed" one of your photos from your first visit and made Miss Mila my "screen saver". So, every time I used my macbook, there was a sweet Lil' Bean looking back at me. I would look into her beautiful eyes and whisper words of hope and encouragement to her. I'd tell her that her Mommy was coming soon and that her Daddy & Mommy and LOTS of people just love and adore her! I'd tell her about her Big Sissy, who she would play with.
Last night before I went to bed, I whispered Prayers with your Bean. I told her that tomorrow her Mommy was going to come and bring some pretty clothes for her. That her nanny would dress her in those clothes and then Mommy would hold her close and slip out of that orphanage and take her away and into a brand new life.
This morning, I told her that by the time I was talking to her, that she was probably with her Mama. That she probably had had a nice bath and been rubbed down with baby lotion and that her Mommy would have dressed her in something Pink! That her Mommy had probably given her some nummy food in a bottle that helped her eat a bit easier.
Now, I'm just waiting for a new picture of Miss Mila Hope Basile for my screen saver! I will continue to talk to God about Mila and her family...for health issues and easy paper work and a quick, uncomplicated trip Home! Kiss that Sweet Girl on her cheek for me, okay? Lota of Love to Mila and Mommy! ~ Jo
