Court Date!!!!

Tonight we finally got our court date. It will be Wednesday (November 2nd) at 4:30!! Please be praying that everyone who needs to show up really does and we can have just one court date this time around! It makes me nervous that it is so late in the afternoon.....but praying it all goes smoothly.  We have heard the judge is adoption friendly so that is great!  And within an hour of receiving our court date we have found out that not only Shawn's car is broken again -won't go over 20 miles per hour (Aunt Jen had been driving Shawn's car because her car broke down) but also that MY CAR now will not start. This is insanity. Satan is not happy we are rescuing Mila but he can have the cars as long as we get our Mila girl out of there!

As of now Shawn and I are both planning on returning home because our court decree likely won't be available until Tuesday, November 15th...so our 10 day wait turns into 12 days because this region doesn't count Sundays. I am so worried leaving our Mila bean...but we just have to pray that God will keep her safe. She was not feeling good at all today. Poor girl has had between 100-101 temperature since we've met her. But today I could tell she was not feeling well. She seemed uncomfortable and was sucking on her tongue quite a bit. I thought maybe she was hungry, and she was because she downed her very watered-down bottle, but then she continued sucking on her tongue almost like she was self soothing. She would drift off to sleep but wake up with quiet little moans. Oh I wish I could make it all better. One day we asked the nanny if she had a fever and she took her temperature (Right after we did and it was 100 degrees) and she told me no temperature...but she is clearly very hot. So please be praying for our sweet girl.

I didn't take pictures this morning because she wasn't feeling well and then tonight I forgot the camera card...oops! But I did get a semi-sweet video of our girl smiling just a little....even through her not feeling well :) Hope you enjoy! Thanks for the continued prayers!! Sorry it's sideways!

  1. I recently found this blog and realized that you are the family that adopted sweet Zoya! I read about Zoya's adoption and after reading here about little Mila (lovely name!) I went back and read all about Zoya's adoption again. Such beautiful daughters you have! :) I can't wait for you to get this little pumpkin home and read all about it!

  2. Don't worry about a late court time - ours was 2:00p...and it was obviously successful :) Also - our judge was 'adoption friendly' - but after court, Yulia told me this judge had never done a special needs adoption! Glad she waited til after to tell me :)

And funny thing about Mila's temperature...because one day on our last trip, the nannies told us that Carter had a fever....and it was 98.6 degrees. Okay, then!

Praying for your process...even though you've 'been there, done that' - I'm sure it's still an emotional roller coaster!! Well worth it in the end, da?! :)

  3. Your sweet girl will be in our prayers - that God would continue to hold her safely in his loving care, especially while you are away from her. Also praying, more immediately, that Mila will feel so much better quickly!!! Her smiles and then her glances up to you are so sweet. She looks like she is totally making the connection that it is HER Mommy making her smile!!! Love it!!

  4. I am so happy you got the earlier court date! Sorry about the cars but they can all be fixed just a huge hassle! I was wondering if maybe Mila is getting her baby teeth with the temp? I know my daughter had a fever about the same when she got her teeth and was fussy for the most part. Maybe feel her gums and see if you can feel the bottom teeth coming in.

  5. Oh good thought littlelola...it hadn't even crossed my mind bc she seems like such a newborn....but definitely possible...maybe that would explain the tongue sucking...hope its something as simple as that!! Thanks for the thought!

  6. Good point littlelola I hadn't thought about that either because she is so small. Iz was a preemie and that delayed everything we thought she would never get teeth and finally started late in comparison to other kiddos her age. Great observation and what a helpful suggestion!

Poor Mila wants to smile and giggle so badly you can just tell it but not having the constant love and attention she doesn't know if she should. Such a sweetheart. I cannot wait to see her blossom once she is home.

Continued prayers for all of you!

  7. Now that is a smile that can melt any heart! Do not worry about leaving little Mila! God will have His hand over her so that you can go home and prepare things for when she does come home. You are loving parents and God knows just how much you love her.

  10. As strange as it sounds children can actually be born with teeth. I found with my daughter just a washcloth on my finger massaging her gums helped. She also loved her Sophie Giraffe... Great teething toy! Let us know if you feel anything... I also noticed before I could feel the teeth the gums were lighter in color.
