Mila is out of surgery and resting. She was not a happy camper when she came out. She was just so upset. They did find a laryngeal cleft and fixed that as well as completed a supralottaplasty....both should help her breathe better, stop aspirating, stop coughing, choking, and fix her apnea. Her pulse ox was low when she came out and her respirations high so they put her on oxygen and did a chest xray that was cloudy. They gave her some lasix to clear that up and we are hoping it helps soon.
We just had a visit from some of the players from the Penguins and they gave Mila a Christmas present.
It sounds like they might let both of us spend the night with her in the PICU which would be great!
I will update more later. Thank you for your prayers this far and please continue praying for peace and comfort for Mila.
Praise God!!! I hope you are all breathing a little more easily now! :) Prayers continue for a restful night - TOGETHER!!! (((HUGS)))!!!

Awww, our poor little pumpkin. But it is done! And I guess you let go of her for the surgery unless the next update shows us a picture of you curled up on the OR table with her. I'm keeping Mila's comfort and rest in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteOkay Sarah, It's high time that I quit becoming a stalker and comment! Your journey to Zoya was my very first blog I followed after I met Ms. Sofia Sanchez and I've been hooked ever since! So hooked actually that we are almost done with our dossier and hopefully on our way to Ukraine in late Jan or early Feb. to bring our sweet girl Olivia home. Please know that I have been praying like crazy for you all and will continue to do so until precious Mila has all her surgery's far behind her! She's a strong little angel, just like her Mama and she will keeping up with her big sissy before you know it! You are an amazingly strong woman Sarah! Please continue to keep us posted!

ReplyDeleteI kind of feel like a creeper because I clicked refresh like 4 times an hour and got excited when I saw an update. My students were like uhh what Ms. Weyers..I said oh nothing haha. So glad everything went well and just think how much more she will grow now. Thank you for sharing your families story with everyone!

ReplyDeleteGODs PEACE for Mila and you!!!
Love, Christina
I am so glad to hear Mila is out and doing so well. The fact that she had enough energy to make a fuss is a good sign, right? I'm also glad to hear you are holding up fairly well yourself. It's hard to say if surgery in general is worse on little patients or their Mamas.
ReplyDeleteShe looks so tiny and helpless in that picture, but look how she is laying! Everything is relaxed, no crazy straining postions! Praise God and prayers will be said for a peaceful and restful night for all.
Thank goodness everything went ok!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky baby getting to meet a Penguin player! My little boy would be so jealous!

Oh, darling baby girl! I'm so glad that the surgery is over. I'm praying that Mila will have a quick, uncomplicated recovery! Really advocate for her if she seems to be in pain! I'm a former Pediatric RN and I can tell you that most docs tend to give Littles less pain meds than they would normally do for adults. If she is just too uncomfortable, call the nurse and ask for pain meds. Oh, and kiss Baby Girl for me!

Prayers continue your way from California!

So glad and happy that she is resting well now. Get some rest you guys!
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy to see this positive report! Get better soon little one because you have a big sister waiting to show you the ropes on how to have so much fun!
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you during this time. With your care and the doctor's I'm sur she will come through this just fine. She's a lucky little girl.
ReplyDeletePraying for a speedy recovery with no complications for your sweet Mila bean! Also, I am praying for you and Shawn... I can only imagine how stressful it is to watch your precious baby have to go through so much! But you are right, Sarah--Mila is a fighter! She has survived sooo much just to get home to her mama and daddy and I have faith she will get thru this! Because (as you know) God is in control and He IS the Great Physician, the ultimate Healer and Comforter. I pray that He will bring comfort to your hearts and keep Mila pain free and healing quickly. Also will say a prayer for sweet Zoya--that she will have a great time while Mommy and Daddy are away and feel peaceful as well. Hugs and prayers...
ReplyDeleteKeeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers!! *hugs*
ReplyDeleteWell you survived handing her over, which we had all prayed for. I think God has planned this initial surgery not only to prepare Mila's little body for the next one, but also your hearts to ease the fears on the 19th. We are continuing to pray for peace and comfort for Mila, her parents, and all the medical staff involved!
ReplyDeleteThinking of you all today. Hoping that today is a great day! Prayers for you all.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear all went well! The handing your child over was definitely the hardest part for me w/Joshua's hole ordeal and OHS... I felt like I couldn't breathe. The only thing I had was prayer.
ReplyDeletePraying for her continued healing and for strength for your family.
I'm so glad and relieved to hear the surgery went well. Continued prayers for Mila and your family, and for the medical professionals taking care of her!
