Wednesday Morning Update

Mila slept very well last night. She still isn't eating great, but definitely eating more than she was before we got here. She is pretty fussy when awak, mixed with a few smiles. Her breathing still hasn't returned to normal so I had worries prior to the echo. They just did the echo and were hoping to see no re-accumulation of fluid but there was a small amount of fluid on the right side of the heart that wasn't there after the procedure yesterday :( They tried to drain it through the tube they left in, but only got 2cc's. The fluid seems to be in a pocket that the drain can't reach. They're hoping the anti-inflamatories they're giving her will take care of the fluid by reducing the inflamation. She looks a little puffy around the face and neck so they are going to restart her lasix. This all means the drain will have to stay in until at least tomorrow when they do the next echo. It is pretty uncomfortable for Mila and it hurts her when we pick her up, so we requested a better bed that she'll be a little more comfortable in since she isn't tolerating being held much. I would request morphine but that seems to make her itch so bad it isn't even worth it. It's going to be a long day ahead I have a feeling. We just want to see our girl healthy and happy.

Shawn and Zoya are going home today. Through this all, Zoya has developed an aversion to her carseat (I don't blame her) so that might make the ride home a little rough for Shawn. Please pray for our family.

  6. Praying for peace for you all. I am glad Mila got some rest and I hope you did too. That will give you strength to get through the day. I hope they can figure out something to make the little jelly bean more comfortable. It breaks my heart that it hurts that baby to be held.

  8. Hello! I hope Mila is feeling better very soon and that they are able to take the drain out tomorrow. I don't know if they can do this for babies, but there are other pain medications than morphine that they can give if the morphine makes her itch. Morphine often causes me to start itching to they give me dillaudid instead when I have surgery and need it. Hopefully you won't need to worry about asking for dillaudid or one of the other stronger pain meds as they will be able to take the drain out tomorrow but thought I'd share anyway. I think you had said they were giving her anti-inflammatories but if you don't want her to have something as strong as morphine or dillaudid they may also be able to do tylenol. These may be things you have already thought of but I just wanted to share as I know how itchy morphine makes me and dilluadid doesn't. I will keep praying for Mila and for the whole fmaily!

  9. Prayers Sarah, I hope tomorrow's echo is better! Maybe they can try a different pain med than morphine for her? I hope Shawn and Zoya's ride home went well too!

  10. Hi Sarah ~ From experience, I can say that the chest tubes/drains are some of THE most painful things to have. Please, ask for another narcotic for her. Morphine isn't the only med she can take for severe pain and tylenol is not going to touch her pain. Praying for you and your sweet baby girl. Love ~ Jo
